Beautiful fragment calcified clam showing remnants of Marsh Stage of the
development of the Rucks Pit area. This stage is credited with causing iron
atoms within the calcium carbonate to give it the beautiful golden honey
color to the calcite.

This piece depicts the portion of the
cementation stage of the formation of the Fort Drum area. 2 Million
years ago, rain water infiltration caused the thin skin mollusks to
dissolve. This specimen, survived, showing that feature splendidly
with severe shell deterioration and heavy crystallization density on its
matrix of 11.5x12x6 cm. This piece will accent any collection.
